Kia Ora: I'm new to bloggs but not to the internet and websites. For a while I won't know what I'm doing. As yet I don't know what to put on here but maybe I should start with: Name: Atihana. Age:only 69. That will do for now. I'm interested in the humanities and politics etc. That's a wide field of interest that includes the environment, economics, and what's happening in sport. Social issues such as the impact of drugs on our youth are also of concern to me and I see it as the curse of the 21st century so far. Crime revolves around drugs these days in our communities whether rural or urban.

Ethnic issues also interest me especially those that try to deny the existence of ethnic groupings in society. Assimilation has failed to unite people because of such diseases as racism whereby majority groups want everybody to be like them; them being superior to us minorities. Differences are a threat to majority power mainly because historically such power is part of an imperialist, colonialist past.

Am I getting too heavy? OK. On a lighter note, I would like to make NZ a happier place through comedy. How come we don't laugh at ourselves more often? We are good at laughing at others. Helen Clarkes one liners about
